I went from paying $1188/6mo. for a 1989 Toyota Pickup with Progressive to paying $840/6mo. on the Evo with Permanent General. 24 y/o, single, 5 points on liscence, and absolutely no credit. I'm also blacklisted from Geico for once racking up 26 points when I had my GVR4 and was paying $4380/yr through them.

Insurance Hate List:

Geico - Owns a portion of the largest supplier of laser speed-check devices, coincidently they donate millions of dollars in Lidar and Radar equipment to police agencies across the country. Hmmm, I wonder why?

State Farm - First to institute credit score effecting your insurance rates. They say people with bad or no credit are worse drivers. True or false? They dont know either, there is no current study to show this relationship, they just went ahead and pulled this one out of their ***.

I have Mercury insurance and they have the best prices so far. I have had many quotes from about everyone under the sun, but no luck with getting a better deal.

Unfortunately you will have to stick with your parents, but you could always have them shop around for a better deal...

$490 Every 6 Months - Full coverage, 03' Evo,

Clean Record, Previously Insured on w/ a Camaro SS

22, Car in my name - as a daily drive.

My advice - shop around, if you're a good student - take a good student discount, it saves a lot.

Word~ Donor.

I'm 25 (almost 26 in August). I pay about $850 every 6 month with $500 deductable on All State full coverage insurance.

So I'm paying about $1700 a year, which I thought was a theivery, but it's not so bad when you divide that and pay it every month.

I have seat belt ticket and a speeding ticket from 1 1/2 year ago.

Why is everyone trying to give a false impression on the cheapest rates? Sure, you can get relatively low rates in the boonies. But as mentioned, places like Los Angeles, New York, Jersey will have high rates. So when you mention your "low" rates, please specify the zip code of the insurance. Don't try to brag about it.

1400/yr. 60614. Basically downtown chicago. I live/park in a highrise if that gives you a better picture.

Backwoods kentucky, where i grew up, is _more_ expensive. Many rural areas have much higher rates of fraud so their prices are often higher.

Try to post your prior performace car and insurance price.

Suburban Louisiana 02 SVT Focus $550/6mo. 04 EVO (when it gets here) $680/6mo.

I agree with whoever said the sample sizes for the insurance industry were messed up. But looing at the #of evo's sold and just the wreck threads I've seen here, I really dont think I want the insurance co's to have a stastically valid sample on these cars.

makes sense to me. it's about responsibility. people who are irresponsible with their creidt are more likely to be irresponsible on the road. as much as you wanna hate on state farm, they've always treated me right...low premiums, no questions asked on comprehensive claims, etc.
