Well, I guess my evo is done
It was never meant for you to have this car. Get a used Skyline! Perk of living in Japan.
Or rebuild the engine with bigger turbo and a stroker kit and sell it for tons of $$$. Then go buy a Skyline! or NSX type R! or Silvia or...

Heh, I had a skyline before the evo, but I got deployed and my friend wrecked it. Skyline's are so played out over here. Don't get me wrong, i love the skyline, they are just so overhyped. Yeah, i'm just gonna get rid of the car. I know there's a lot wrong with it. I had to drive it back after the belt came off. It's done. And yeah, the decision is made for me. I would have liked to have my evo for the next 8 months though. Just because i'm in japan doens't mean it's so easy to find parts. I'm not in mainland, I'm in okinawa, a small island south of mainland. I am 1 of about a dozen military evo owners here. evos are very hard to come by here. But oh well, i'll still visit the forums, and hopefully i'll have an 8 in a year.

I wish they'd make a better design. Some cars now have a chain timing belt, that never has to be replaced.[/QUOTE]
timing chains are making a comeback- belts didnt really show up until the early 80's, i think.. then everybody started using belts instead of chains; and now chains are on their way back. but chains are still a maintenance item, requiring periodic replacement. i lost count of how many chains i've done on old GM cars..
personally, i like the belt better- easier to work on and quieter, even if they do wear faster.
