I just adjusted mine too high, dropped it down one click on the leveling, and all is good. Funny, I don't ever remember seeing this thread before...

Mine does this too. I manually adjusted mine to be higher than stock as well. Time to go back and adjust it back down.

Mine don't even really react to the adjustment wheel... They are just down most of the time, so i drive around with fog lights on, so i can see further than 3 feet... Then like once a week they'd go up all of a sudden for maybe an hour or so, then back down for another week.... It's toying with my nerves

Has anyone tried to replace the level adjust switch unit? It seems from the wiring diagram, level control is done by voltage comparison, and the adjusting unit needs to provide very stable resistance depending on the level selection. (highest = lowest resistance) Therefore, if you remove the switch, it goes to the lowest level because open circuit is infinite resistance (highest resistance).

I am not sure what exactly causes this problem, but I guess replacing the level switch itself is a good start. (also cheaper than headlamp unit.)

03-06 EVO uses the same part. Hope someone can try a new part and see if it fixes the problem.

Yeah, mine does that too, that is why I am suspecting the switch itself.
