EVO exhaust tone compared to STi Tone

Hi guys,

i have a quick question. Can an EVO sound deep and throaty like the STi with an exhaust. Those STis sound liek V8s...if only they looked better, had more interior room, and handled better then i would get one. But right now im in the market for an EVO and just wanted to know if there is an exhaust out there that would make the EVO sound very deep and throaty like the sti.

check out the video of the wrx RFL-Ti exhaust at www.worldoneperformace.com to get an idea of what im talking about. Thanks

Sorry. You just cannot duplicate the sound of the flat 4 in a suby.
You can obviously find an exhaust that sounds more aggressive than stock for an EVO, but to get the rumbly, Harley like sound of an STI you gotta have the flat 4.

I personaly think STI sounds like an old beater muscle car from 1960's, after the muffler fell out and the engine is on its last breath.

I like the fact that EVO's exhaust notes a lot smoother and not throaty.

but that's just me

why are you people up so early?

I have a UR 3" turbo-back exhaust without the cat and it sounds pretty mean. One of my friends has a Mustang and I took my Evo to one of his Mustang meets and they all thought my exhaust sounded pretty mean. I do have 272 cams so that might also have something to do with it.

Ya, I always thought that Subies sounded like crap (they sound like they are missing at idle)...one of the minor reasons I bought the Evo...

flat 4/boxer 4 means the engine lay out unlike the evo thats inline and upright. my sis used to have a suby before she traded it for the evo and suby's exhaust sounds really unique like the porsche's.

Sti and WRX sound like the old VW Beetles...

...IMO stock Evo exhaust note is soso, but I looove the sound of my Vishnu Signature exhaust (3" dump-back, hi-flow cat, and Magnaflow muffler). :headbag:

I think EVO sounds very nice and deep as a 4 banger. If you like the sound of a Subaru, get a Subaru. There is no way an EVO can sound like a boxer engine. It rumbles because of its engine design... and its non-equal length header under the car.

And yes, my brother's STi sounds so much louder and deeper than my EVO. And it shakes the house when he warm up his car in the garage.

Oh, Porsche is another car that you can buy if you like the sound of boxer engines
