any difference between 03 and 04?

Is there any differences between a 2003 and 2004? Im sure nothing has changed but I was hoping if there were any problems with the car that maybe Mitsubishi would have solved come of the problems? BTW will the 05 MR come with power windows or air con? Thanks

The '04 Evo's have an option for leather and an nice sound system. Of course the RS is an option for '04 (search the forums for all the things took out) with a front lsd.

The '03 models have a TSB warning about the 5th gear syncro sleeve. It's a free fix. No such warning has been issued for '04. The other TSB's aren't really relevant for a buying decision. The brakes were noisy. Well they are still brembos and STILL noisey. Apparently some people find the heater controls hard to turn.

Very few people have reported clutch problems on '04s on this forum, but the part numbers for the '03 and '04 clutch are the same. I'm of the opinion that more patient people waited for the '04s and those patient souls don't destroy their clutch. But i guess it's concievalble that something could be different.

hope this helps

- also, for the 2004's, the large carbon fiber wing is standard and not an option like 2003; the small wing is not available either for the '04.
- RS model is available
- you can only get the oem sunroof with the sun and sound + leather package.
- sun and sound + leather: sunroof, 315 watt 7-speaker sound system, and front leather recaro seats and leather rear seats with headrests.
- warranty also for the powertrain is extended to 10yrs/100,000 miles (i think?)
- and price is a bit different:

2003:
msrp: $28,987
msrp + destination and handling + cf wing: $30,182
msrp + destination and handling + cf wing + sunroof: $ ?

2004:
msrp: $29,999
msrp + destination and handling: $30,594
msrp + destination and handling + sun/sound/leather: $33,144

i know there isn't any MAJOR exterior / interior difference (besides leather and infinity sound system) in the '04 than the '03, but please correct me if i'm wrong. thanks.

Also, for 04:

* the seatbelt warning flight starts flashing and beeping when the car starts moving with the driver's seatbelt unbuckled. This wasn't available on the '03.

* the design of the hood vents is slightly different on the '04; the drain holes are slightly larger and more offset.

...

I'm still thinking

The 04 has a cabin filter, updated syncros and a differant ECU program.
I installed a Defi boost gauge on my 04 today, I was surprised to see 19 lbs before 3000rpm's and it didn't drop less than 17 all the way to redline. Not sure if that is just a freak thing or an 04 thing.

Yes, yea. That's all true.

Also, the RS ECU has a different revision from the regular GS-R.

The RS also has the helical front Diff., as opposed to open Diff., which will be standard on all '05 cars.

Hmmm well we'll see what the dealer can do, but it's going to be close payment wise and insurance will go up a bit.

Yeah the 04 has a different stock tune. It puts down more power. On a dyno that a stock 2003 put down 218, a 2004 put down 251 (here in Dallas).

wow- right on... I wasn't aware of that. If I remember right the "tested" 1/4 time for the 2003 is a 13.6 and the 2004 a 13.3
