need help deciding
i am in the market to buy a new car soon
i have now 3 options
first of all, i currently drive a 2001 acura integra type R, and love the car, and will be keeping it.
my three options are:
evo mr (~33k)
2000 porsche C4S (44k)
used M3 (around 40k)
I like performance cars, and i know the evo mr will out handle and accelerate any of the other 2, but i think to myself, do i really need all that, or would i rather have an m3 or porsche.
i also like the porsche bc i know it will hold its value well (its already a good deal according to kbb), and i know the evo mr will not, nor will the m3 (once the new 3 series comes out)
HELP!!
what would you choose and why?

Evo MR is a limited car so I think it will hold value well just like your type R. If you want to get chicks, go with a M3 or Porches, but if you want performance.....MR is what you want.
that was a dumb reply, i think i made it pretty clear that i wasnt looking for something super fast or retarded like that
i thought the evo would hold its value too since it is somewhat limited, but that does not seem like the case.

If you drive the Type R, you NEED either an MR or an RS. Drive a factory prepped race car, and everything else pales in comparison.
The Type R is probably one of the best stock cars I have ever seen. It feels like a race car that was made street legal.
Go see an Evo, any Evo, and you'll get the same feeling. The first thing you'll notice is the power. If you don't know, then you need to ask somebody
Yes, the power delivery is a little twitchy and you need to gear it just right, but other than that, I have no complaints.
Then you'll notice the steering feel. Reminds you of any car you've driven lately *wink wink*?
Don't take my word for it. Go and see.
Then you'll notice the straight up ergonomics. I don't know about you, but I don't like being crammed into a bathtubs just so I can feel like I'm driving a sport car.
I chose the '04 RS for several reasons. Here they are, in no particular order:
* cheaper. You can get one for around $28k out the door, maybe even less.
* power equipment. That means there are less things to break over the years, things that are hard to fix and likely to be expensive.
* front LSD. This isn't a big deal in '05 since every model will have the front diff, but for me it was a good choice.
* no ABS. I don't like ABS. I prefer to modulate myself.
* I prefer the '04 RS over the '05 because all '05 models has the active centre diff with ACD. I don't want ACD. It's just some more stuff that can break and are extremely difficult to fix.
* less weight. The RS carries about 100-150 lbs. less than a regular GS-R. Yes, you lose a lot of creature comforts, but you drive a Type R. You should understand
About the only thing I would want in my car is the aluminum roof, but I don't mind and it's not a big deal any way. The car is equipped just the way I want so I'm not complaining.
I was facing your same decision last month. I could have bought those cars or even a Z06, Cobra, etc. But the Evo came out being just as fast for the least money. And having a back seat is definitely a plus for me.
So the choice was clear, for me anyway
And I didn't go with the STi because the handling and steering feel wasn't on par with the Evo.

i was considering an RS, but i couldnt locate one.
i live in texas, and contacted dealerships in houston, austin, san marcos, and a few others about an RS, but they either werent getting one in, or already sold the only 1 (or 2) they got. I have talked to a few dealerships about the MR, and one has guarenteed me MSRP, and the other $500 under.
If anyone knows where i can find a RS with AC (i need AC) let me know

All Evos, including RS, come standard with A/C.
If you can't find one, consider having a dealer ship one over to you. Or have them special order it.
You'll have to pay a deposit and wait about 3 months, but it was worth it for me.

I miss my Type R. If I would've kept it I would've had it paid off.
I might get another one in the future.
However, get the MR. It's cheap performance that, with only $1000-$2000, can beat any of the other cars, and you'll still have money in your pocket.

Sell the Type R in favor of the Evo.
Also get a Porsche.
Here's why: The Type R and Evo driving experience is fairly similar, in that it's a matter of function over form. Corners have been cut with regard to comfort and styling, in the interest of performance. The Evo is the more fun of the two cars, hands down, and your Type R will really pale by comparison once you have it.
Between Porsche and BMW, Porsche holds value better, is more reliable, and has a good network of proud owners, just like Evos. It's also nicer inside, IMO.
