Honda S2000, Keep or replace with an EvoVIII
after you get done here you should go to a honda s2k forum and ask them if you should trade it in for an evo... i think you know what the people here are gonna say
anyways, s2ks are tite cars.. i'd say give the evo a chance and test drive... but it u just like ur honda better, roll bar it up and hit the tracks. nothing's worse than being speed deprived

S2K aLL Da WaY!!....Well, depends on you. Personally if u have money, keep the S2K and buy an EVO!HaHa!...Very hard decision but I like the S2K than the EVO. Whatever! Your car, your decision!
yea JoCCe's car's freaking fast man....
....
well e s2000 is more towards styling than brutal spin ard the tracks.but i hav to admit they r veri veri fast..my frene's bro had aa s2000 n it was pretty fast STOCK....whao.
but aniways.yea i think it's ultimately up to u...pure speed machine(evo) or a decent speed girls magnet..
=)both cars r great.n i hav to add.yr s2000 reallli looks great...esp in black..

Several points
- Neither the OEM hardtop nor the Mugen CF hardtop will meet VIR's rollover rules. They are not structural, and will crush easily (or shatter, in the Mugen's case).
- The S2000 is hardly a mid-life crisis car. It's everything a sports car was meant to be. It goes faster than anyone could possibly justify on public streets, so the comment about "don't track it, street race it" should be ignored.
- Boosted, you're right, there are several rollbars available. However, they all still effectively destroy the interior, which is what he's trying to avoid. The Mugen one even requires the removal of the door panels. Full race trim only, in other words.
- Last I checked, smanders was married, so the chick magnet factor probably isn't an issue
Stephen, my honest answer to this would be to keep the S and try to find an inexpensive track car - not a convertible! A CRX, or something like that. The added benefit of this is that if something bad happens, you're not out as much in terms of losing your car for a while.
Good luck...

I suppose I should have clarified my suggestion - the 2nd track car would probably end up being cheaper than either the rollbar or the depreciation hit of moving from the S to an Evo. If you find the right car, it could be just as fast or faster than the S at the track. Also, you could get a flatbed trailer and pull a track car around with your pathfinder, and not worry about registering it or keeping it street legal (straight pipe exhaust!).
I'm with WSB on every point.
I think sticking with the S2k and just overhauling a beater (I'd do a 240 myself just cuz I love em
) would be a lot more cost effective and fun. Anywho...let us know what happens. Good luck.

Can you try using your brain before you speak?

About your S2000, Why don't you just buy the hardtop from Honda dealerships? And BTW, I would get the EVO instead mainly because it has a larger power output, have more mods for it and seat four people.

Thanks so much for the responses. This reflection from outside has really helped. I agree that only driving the EvoVIII will tell. Its hard waiting!!!!
As WestSideBilly said, the hardtop is no good for saftey. VIR requires SCCA approved rollbars. The construction of the bar is very strict.
Must be 1.75x.950 DOM Steel.
Must have at least 4 points.
Each point must have a mounting plate welded to the chassis.
Three bolts must attach the bar at each point.
Must have a diagonal support.
The bars supporting the main hoop must be at least 30 degrees from the main hoop.
The main hoop must extend 2 inches above the drivers helmet.
and more...
Meeting all of those without permanently ruining the car is impossible. All the above referenced rollbars are not SCCA approved. I have been discussing rollbar options on the s2ki forum for sometime now and nobody has a rollbar that's SCCA approved. None of the attempts were mass produced either.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone up to date....

smanders, I notices you are in NC. I say get an evo all the way. if you want to experience an evo experience, come up to richmond, VA and we'll ride around in my evo. evo gives you best of both worlds. also, low end torque for the street. ayc and awd for track. even on rainy and snowy days. anyways, my offer is open if you wanna come up to richmond one day to compare.
