Regarding the "they published these accel stats" argument
Hey guys. My grandmother is considering a new car and is looking at an IS300 (heh, I'm not sure it's exactly what she wants...). I was looking through the brochure for it and I see in the fine print it says "These performance capacity figures are for comparison only, and were obtained with prototype vehicles by professional drivers using special safety equipment and procedures. Do not attempt." I don't have an Evo brochure, but I was curious if it includes a similar disclaimer. Could one of you guys who has one possibly check and let me know? I'm just curious, because I found the disclaimer amusing. Knowing whether or not a similar one is present in the Evo documentation would contribute one way or the other to the argument that if Mitsubishi published these acceleration figures, we should be able to duplicate them. Even if it's not, though, it's clear that there is precedent for production cars not being required to be able to safely attain the advertised figures, though of course that's not particularly fair or nice on their part. Anyway, could someone with an Evo brochure check the fine print and let me know if it contains anything similar? Thanks.
