Good deal on a new 03 Evo?

Hey folks. Just picked up our new Evo yesterday.

What do you guys think of this deal?

New (unsold) 2003 Evo w/40 miles on it. Lightning Yellow with small wing (I don't care for the big one), sunroof. A bunch of dealer installed options like an indash 6disc changer (for sale), alarm, rear strut brace, VIN etching, etc. Total sticker with all of that was around $32K. Apparently it had sat there for quite a while and they were ready to move it.

I got it for $24,900. Brand new. In addition, I sold my Audi through the dealer and saved another $900 in taxes.

I'm thinking I got a very good deal, even if it is an older model year.

Thoughts?

Oh well, looking forward to hanging out over here. See ya around!

Plokivos,

Hehe... Most of those 40miles we put on it before we bought it, so it wasn't really a demo car. I think the inspection sticker said it had like 22? when it rolled off the truck and went for the test.

Siantjab,

I would have liked to wait for an MR, but this will mostly be a shared daily driver for my wife (who is also a car freak) and I. With MR's probably going for $33K, I decided it was worth the savings to do the deal now and use my Audi as a way to save on Taxes. Plus we have some other fast cars to play with for now ;-)

Thanks guys. Not sure how long I'll be able to resist the mods. I tend to get the mod-infection pretty soon after purschase ;-)

by the time MR hits the market, EVO's old news and it's not the hottest thing out there.

That's what I'm figuring.

I bet the 05 mustangs gonna be the next trend... Then the SRT-6...

Then the EVO and STI go bye bye and we all go back to wooahhing Supras...

Ah, the miserable cycle of life trends...

He won't be disappointed about not having an MR when the Elise comes in. Congratulations on the EVO purchase at a great price.

Emulous,

Yeah, I'm waiting impatiently for the elise. The dealer first told me August, then Sept, now its looking more like "end of the year".... Oh well, it will be worth it.

Once I get more seat time in the Evo I'll be able to compare it to the 911. Feels totally different so there I need some time to acclimate. I've had lots of high-strung turbos so it shouldn't be too hard.

But right now I'm really enjoying it. Can't wait for the break-in period to be over so I can find a nice dirt road for some fun.

Considering that the resale value on an Evo is as horrid as it is, I think you made the smart buy and got a new leftover for 25k...I just got mine a few weeks ago, but it was an '04 for 28.5 with wing/sunroof. If they had a 03 in stock, I would have definitly taken that and saved the 3.5k. In another 6 months, both of our cars are going to be worth virtually the same anyway. Good purchase.

ignore these other people... any sports car from dodge will just turn out to be another one trip pony like the mustang... you will never get true respect from car enthusiates.... the elise? rwd? no ac? hmmm you will find it will sell as well as the RS.... supra? it will probably cost ALOT and its rwd...

just be super happy with your evo, for under 30k, NOTHING beats it... not even the MR.
