Auto ic sprayer feature

guys
when you turn on the ic sprayer on auto, is it supposed to spray every xx seconds
at any time or does the car need to be running hard?
I've tried to check it while on idle but it wont spray
thanks for the input

Mine does not spray when sitting at idle. I have stood outside my car many times when at idle and no spray. I know it works when I manually press it. When does it spray on auto? When moving or at certain RPMs?

I read at one of the vendor's site that it was controlled by the ECU. So that tells me it only sprays when the computer sees fit. So at idle I doubt the computer feels the need to cool down the IC. But then again, if your runnin at the track you have the chance of getting heat soaked while you wait in line if left in Auto...who knows.

Just FYI - This have been mentioned a few times already in the past. If you put it on auto, it sprays 2 secs in 5 second intervals ONLY when necessary. That mean's only when the ECU feels that it is running hot enough. Although, I don't know how hot is "hot enough". You might want to do a search if you really want to know. I am sure there is a lot of info regarding this. Good luck.

auto doesnt do very much, when flooring it and going through the gears, simply hold the manual button down for a constant stream of spray. that is the best way of using it.

I have read that it's based on MAF voltage. So If your under full boost for longer then 1 sec it will spray.

But that's what a read on the internet don't know if it's ture.

Does anyone know if the ECU takes intake air temp into consideration as well as throttle position when deciding on when to spray?

I've got an Autospeed controller sitting on a shelf that monitors ambient air temp, intercooler core temp and injector duty cycle to determine if the sprayer should spray. For some reason I doubt the factory ECU uses as many input parameters, but you never know.

Is there any way of putting a LED light somewhere in your car and wire it into the auto spray function so when it does spray, it lights up the LED to let you know it's spraying? That would be a neat feature.

^^^ i'm sure that would get old fast. But cool idea.

I want my car to have LED's in each holes on my steering wheel, so it could syncronize with my RPM.

I had a similar LED on my DSM connected to the stock boost control signal to tell me if/when the ECU was trying to limit boost. It wasn't that intrusive, but I had to put a cover over it to dim the light. I'm sure the LED I got was just too bright.

all you need to do is wire it to the pump

In Auto mode, the IC sprayer sprays at a determined boost level.
