HID adjustment?????

Just wanted to get an idea of who here actually adjusts their headlights often. ....I know I never use mine. I have tried it out a couple times while sitting in my driveway so I can watch the beam move up and down on my garage door. I have tinkered with them on the highway a bit, but I always leave them at the highest setting.....to me it seems as if it would be better that you could adjust them up higher from the maximum setting. At the lowest setting, I can see about 15 feet ahead of my evo - and it looks like daytime for this first 15 feet...then darkness. The maximum setting on my evo provides great nighttime visibility......but sometimes I think a little more heigth wouldnt hurt........

To be honest, I never had the need to raise them or lower them. But that's just me. Do a search here if you really want to raise them up higher than the default highest setting.

At night, I find it way to easy to overdrive the headlights. I use the fog/ driving lights, they help a little. Brights help a lot, but is there an adjustment under the hood to raise the beams up?

My beams hit the ground about 20 ft out. That's on the high setting

There's a way to manually adjust them to higher than the max factory setting. Do a search, but be careful as I've read a good amt of people stripped the gears under there and were screwed. I've left mine alone but it is annoying how short the beams are.

I raised mine as well and get high-beamed all the time. There are gears under the hood and if you do a search you'll find that they're pretty easy to adjust. Like oak said, many people strip the gears, so take your time and be cautious when doing it!

To avoid damage to the gears, there is a 10mm fitting behind the headlight.
I marked the upper part of my light beam on the garage door with tape, then put the knob on 2. Raised the beam back up to the mark on the door using a 10mm 1/4" socket. Now place the knob back to zero. this will raise the beam enough to see more of the road, and avoid getting flashed by oncoming cars.

i adjusted mines a bit higher. my beams were pretty low out of the factory. did what degrootdd did with the garage. i switched the beams to the middle setting as the default for the road. now i can raise em if i want to go higher or set em lower.

And deg you had no problem with stripping gears or anything? Did you just do it real slow and careful like? It sounds like the people using the screwdriver method had the stripping problem, and people using the sockets had better luck.

Ahh, I get flashed all the time by people. I feel like my lights are so low too. My HIDs are always set on the highest setting, and I usually don't monkey with them.

I think they're just too low from the factory, like they overcompensated for blinding others. I'm constantly driving on the outskirts of down and when there's no moonlight I can't see anything. It's fine like when you crest a hill and the lights shine way out, but at the bottom of a hill or on a straight road it's really hard to see. If I can get some confirmation that adjusting them with a socket doesn't tend to strip the gears as much as the screwdriver approach, I'm seriously thinking about doing it.

There is a how-to on here, just search for it or check the How-To section, it's probably in there. I'm just worried about stripping the gears and having nothing work anymore.
