AutoMeter Boost Guage (Mechanical)
AutoMeter Boost Guage (Mechanical)
If you already have, or if you're doing an install of an Autometer UltraLite (maybe other styles too) you should modify the process if it came with nylon tubing. If you T into the FPR hose, and used the kit that came with it, you may get better readings if you follow my suggestions below... (I noticed that my boost reading was increased by .5 - 1.0 psi above the original install)
The kit that comes with it plain sucks. It comes with nylon tubing, and a connector with a nut to attach to your pressure source. Problem is, if you T into the FPR as suggested in most How To articles, the remaining connection on the T doesn't fit into your kit. Not to mention Autometer doesn't even give you enough nylon tubing to get to the A-Pillar. So I went to AutoZone and picked up 10 ft of vacuum hose. Not sure what size it was, but look at the FPR hose your tapping into (the one coming straight out of the Intake Manifold) and make a note of how big the opening in the hose is. Get something only slightly larger than that. It will fit tight into the remaining spot in the T, and it will stretch over the Metal piece on the guage. Use small tie straps to make sure all hose connections are very secure. Hope that helps. I had to run around for days with my guage duck-taped to my cluster cuz AutoMeter has crappy kits. The guage is good though.

.. i have the ultralite 2 5/8" gauges dremelled into the craig hardy panel. Didn't have a problem "t"ing it into the line. Had to get a t fitting at pepboys gauge looks like it reads fine..
I agree though.. the kit sucks.
Wait til you try installing pressure and temp gauges.. Autometer uses NPT pipe thread.. most of the threads on the EVO are bspt. Finding adapters hasn't been too much fun.
