test drive in MR RS possible with Ralliart?
hello,
I'm really considering to buy me a 8 MR RS, but they're only distributed via Ralliart UK / Germany.
Would they do or could they offer me a test drive?
As I would swap from the last driver's car (EVO VI RS2) I'm really worried that the MR RS wouldn't be that pleasant anymore to drive, although the MR RS just has (E)-ACD (helical LSD?), and no SAYC nor ABS.
I know I have to take in count that I will drive a new chassis which is much stiffer, but I would be really disappointed if I can throw the car anymore like I did with my VI..
I'm used to drive in very bad and small roads in Belgium (only 7 feet width), so here and then I use some grass with the rear wheel to get the tail out and get sharp into the corners.. will I be able to do the same with my MR RS?
Any info and discussions are very welcome!
p.s. car will be Left Hand Drive, 280bhp/390Nm
cheers,
kevin

might be confusing.. in europe you have an EVO VIII Sport/Elegance with 265bhp which is for the first time officially sold by Mitsubishi-motors.
Now you can buy a VIII MR RS (RS is the version which they use the build rally cars from). This car has 280bhp/390Nm and is as light as 1315kg / 2910 pounds..

For Europe (except UK) there are only the VIII 260/265 available. Ralliart Germany who supplies competition cars for rally drivers are able to also road register the basic rally platform car for enthusiasts. This car is an RS and from some time this year it’s based on the MR. However it’s not really like the JDM MR’s, it still has the 5-speed box and the 9.8 nozzle turbo, and the “old” cams from the VIII and maybe some other non MR features.
Kevin, what makes you think the US guys are able to tell if the MR RS is available for test driving in Germany? Why not contact them directly and ask instead? Anyway, I have a hard time imagine that you will be disappointed of the MR compared to your VI. It’s a far better car in my eyes even if it lacks some of the true MR features. And as you said you won’t get the AYC, ABS and the car is purely for competition use. It being an RS also makes it possible to get the Ralliart ECU’s for the ACD, it’s far superior to the older viscous centre diff especially on slippery surfaces and together with one of those ACD ECUs. The car can be ordered as a pure RS or to RS2 spec or anything in between. You can also get it in different colors and with the BBS wheels and Bilstein suspension if you like. I would definitely get it in the dark grey MR color

Thomas,
Thanks for your reply.. yes you're right.. I should contact Ralliart Germany, and will do shortly.
It's just.. all these electronic features make me afraid, afraid that they will limit what I can do with the car. I can say that I fully master my EVO VI RS2 (after being in stage on different Rally schools, advise of other rally drivers).
I just don't want my fun to be taken away..
Thanks for the input. If you want please send me an email to info at lancerevoclub dot org, would like to ask you some other questions too..
Cheers,
Kevin

Ask for David Ewles when calling RA Germany and say hello for me then
I don't think you need to be afraid, and on the RS it's not that many electronical things, just the ACD and if the rally drivers use it on their cars you should be fine too.
Feel free to drop me a mail at: thomas_bosaeus@hotmail.com and I'll answer all that I can
