Did they guarantee it will be sold to you for MSRP?
I'm in the area and haven't found a dealer that is wiling to commit to selling an EVO for MSRP.....

True enough.
But for what it's worth then, I've called a few dealerships in my area here in PA, and all are willing to take my $500 deposit...but none are willing to guarantee MSRP. And all are quite willing to say that they will price the cars to whatever the market will bare....ie, "market adjustment" of a few $k.
The simple fact is that there is usually little to no negotiating when it comes to buying a limited production car....because if you don't want to pay the asking price, the dealership knows that one of the 20 people in line behind you possibly will.
IMHO, No car is worth having to pay over MSRP.
I've been down this road before when I bought my Type R a little more than 2 years ago...And if i learned one thing it's that if the dealership is not willing to be straight up with you about pricing (in regards to over MSRP price gouging) when you place an order, or put yourself on a list, you are setting yourself up to be screwed in the end.

I agree. No car is worth over MSRP. At least the refundable deposit is a starting block as I see it. I guess it's a good thing I can't afford cars that are in limited production runs and high demand, eh?

Getting a spot in line is a great starting block! Don't get me wrong on that! That will guarantee you a car..thats for sure!
And if the prospect of having to spend $35k on a $30k car is of no bother to you, then thats wonderful! Enjoy your EVO!
I've just seen it happen to may of my Type R friends...
They got a deposit and a spot in line for a car but weren't guaranteed a price. They then got a call from the dealership telling them that their Type R has arrived. They got to the dealership and were suprised to see that the cars window sticker price was accompanied by a dealer mark-up of a few thousand bucks. They then tried to negotiate the price and the dealer doesn't budge....then at that point they had to decide;
1. Buy it anyway and suck up and deal with the extra cost.
2. Walk away and try to get the car at another dealership knowing full well that every other dealership has a long que of prospective Evo buyers already...and your chances of getting a car at all would be greatly decreased.
3. Buy a different, less sought after car.
Having the money to afford a limited production is only the first step! Finding the right dealership and salesperson with whom you trust to lay your deposit in hopes of getting what you asked for AND at a price you expected is the hard part!

Hey Megabus i live in Harleysville...Did they give you a price on the vechicle? Did they tell you how many are coming in? And when are they expecting the date of arrival on the evo. Thanks man maybe ill stroll my way over there and put down a 500 dollar deposite likewise...Get 2nd in line
Mine is worded something like "MSRP" and "refundable if customer does not like price or color".
I thought I would get to order my car, but they indicated that it may just show up and they won't have any say on the color. I would like White, then Red then Silver if I had choices.... As long as it is not bright Yellow or Smurf Blue I don't think I will care.
Secret CHimp - DId you speak to Andy Fox?
