04 evo... louder after break-in?

I'm not sure if the 03 evos are different at all but my 04 evo has about 1300 miles on it now.. done with break in. I feel that the motor is a bit rougher and louder than before... is this normal?
when I say rough and louder it's not necessarily a bad thing.. I have yet to do my first oil change in about 200 miles when I hit 1,500...

Mine's the same way man.....worse with the A/C, no? A positive note, I've noticed the suspension settles in a bit better at that mileage, no?

the muffler will get the carbons running though it and will get louder when it builds up. something like that so that would explain getting louder. also if you drive with the rear windows down you hear the exhaust a lot better so you might just be doing that as well.

Hahahaha, 15mpg?!? Dude, you should take your car to the track. I averaged 6 mpg at my last track outing!

Seriously though, I average about 19 to 21 mpg and I have a heavy foot and a Buschur Stage 3 putting down anywhere from 300 to 320 to the wheels. 15 mpg definately sounds a little low unless you're really laying into it all the time.

I heard all the bad things about the gas milage before i got my 04 Evo. In the city my worse is 18 mpg , and driving normal with the AC running all the time ( Florida) with a little boosting I get around 21mpg. The first breaking in miles I got 24+ mpg. I have yet to do any Hwy miles.

The engine is pretty loud. However as ur car is new, check the engine oil and see if it's low or not. As long as it's b/w the two level markers you're ok. I have about 7000 miles on my car now, but I checked my oil last week and it was low and after I added the oil, the motor settled down a bit and relatively smoother. Pretty usual for a new evo to consume oil. Mitsu says 1 quart for every 1000 miles driven is normal.

My first full tank I got 15mpg and my 2nd tank I got about 18mpg with a little more hwy driving without me punching the pedal at all.....

Just like any car the hwy mileage is better than city if driven normally....

I'll do my first oil change this weekend to see if I hear/see/feel any difference. Thanks guys.

i think its safe to say that if you just drive the car ..sorry no racing here ... the mpg will be around 20-22 mpg ... within that range ... like on the track 6mpg ... see theres a good reason for taht ... but 15mpg ... see that lead me to believe the dude was wanting to pick up a race each damn stop light hahah

I consistantly get 21-22 miles per gallon for normal driving if I drive lots of city miles and punch it lots then its more like 18 and if Im doing only highway miles the best I did was 26 (only happened once usually more like 24-25) I think thats pretty respectable gas milage for a car thats pushing as much power as the EVO.

Wow

Im in CA too. My break in tank I got around 265 but since then ive been luck to see 200. I floor it alot however and the fuwl pump probly doesn't help. Hopefully my custom tune will lean things out a bit
