What's the correlation b/n AC belt noise and clutch depression?
I've noticed that when in neutral my car moans and groans (rumbles) while the ac is on -altough sometimes with just the fan on. But when the clutch is depressed, the noise goes away. Clutch not touching the flywheel and crank?

Isnt this related to the extra play in the throw out bearing? I also think its noise, like on the BMWs because of the lightened flywheel. Mine been doing it from mile 7 to mile 28,000+. I don't run A/C much because I'm in San Diego, but I can get the noise to happen when getting the car pretty warm, I just fiddle with the clutch a little at a stop and it'll go away. Clutch has been working great so far for me, no gear grinding unless I screw up.
The A/C compressor puts a load on the engine, which can run and sound rougher. The noise goes away when you depress the clutch pedal because you're decoupling all loads beyond the flywheel.
