Another dumb dealer

I went to Tustin Mitsubishi over the weekend.

Beyond the usual "added dealer profit [greed]" they had 2 really dumb accesory "add-ons":

-Theft Prevention Package $595
-VIP Paint Protection $775

Classic!

Here in Phoenix the $995-$1295 "Desert Protection Package" graces the EVO window stickers, as well as the typical "Market Adjustment".

Yeah, I got nailed for the 'theft protection package". Basically, it was window etching. I was so excited about the car, and the good deal I was getting, I didn't fight it. In hindsight, I should have told them forget it. Oh well, still lovin the EVO.

seems to be the norm...the first EVO I bought came with both etching and the underbody coating. They insisted that they do that to EVERY car they bring in, and I would have to pay. They quickly changed their mind when I told them the deal was off! They still made me pay dealer cost on the etching, but just removed line item for the coating. It's amazing that dealers get away with this! They had me negotiating in the dealership for hours before mentioning it!

They should be sued by the filmmakers for using "the fast and the furious."

Here in Florida, alot of dealers are marking thier cars up 2-5k over sticker with the same type of bogus packages. My dealership refuses to put addendums on our cars. I find it hard to believe anyone would be convinced to pay so much more,

When I bought the car it had the windows etching which I did not pay for and some kind of
paint protection plan for $1375. After I took the car home I wrote a letter to the dealership owner to say I felt I had been taken on this $1300 crap. He called me at my house a few weeks later and told me the the manager would be standing by to do what ever it took to make me happy. During my next visit, I received a check for $1300. I was happy, and have never returned.

The paint protection package is just a coat of wax.... It shouldn't cost $100, much less $1300! Good thing they gave you your money back.

JF1GD2, Do yourself a favor. Go over to the HB Mitsu dealership on Beach Blvd.

When I bought mine (Sept. '03) the dealer didnt try to scam me with B.S. paint protection packages. They went straight to the point and put a $15,000 mark up on the car (And HELL NO I didn't pay it)
