3rd transfer case

First one died at 6000, second one at 6015 (bad seal oil leaked out on way back from dealer).Sounded like I was in a NASCAR. Towed back to dealer next morning after fluid leaked all over my driveway. Third one great so far. Point being: No Oil , No Transfer case. At 15miles not 2500 .
One last thing:
Verizon $39.95 unlimited calling coast to coast 24hrs a day, voicemail and caller id. Bargain

Rory...i never heard that verizon deal!!! where you see that? An unlimited plan for 40 bux???

Also, what are the signs of a bad TC? I've been having the whine like forever, but it seems to drive fine and when i changed the fluid, there were no metal peices.

Guys this was in reference to the other thread about Turbotrix. My car is fine now. Been making 330whp for 6 mths with no problems( apart form a slipping clutch). Jim you cannot mistake transfer case whine, sounds like you are in NASCAR.Mine drove fine to. Best way to test is get underneath and where the shaft comes out of the tranfer case try and twist the shaft to check for play. If there is you are ferked ! 3 later and one replaced for a buddy I can spot a blown transfer case a mile away

Im jsut being a lil cautious...not that it will prevent TC from going. I just want to educate myself on the tell tale signs. My tranny has been whinng since a long while back.

My needed to be changed because it sounded like a fire engine and the noise was speed dependent. The faster I went the louder the noise....

believe me....the tc going bad is NOT a whine, but more like SEVERE grinding/whining. YOU will def. know. You can also tell if your tc is shot if you floor it in 1st and here a REALLY loud whine/howling. But either way you would know. I am also on my 3rd. 1st one took the dealership 4ever to fix, next day driving to work, no beating on it, and the 2nd one grenaded on me. took it back to the dealer (SHELTON,CT = ******) they wouldnt fix it until a representative came from . so i brought it to a different dealer and they fixed it for me. the tech there told me that the gears were shimmed TOO close and that was why it was shot. he said that he did his best to return the tc back to within specs. i havent had a problem since KNOCK ON WOOD

goodluck with it

1st time yes 2nd time no. I just told them don't look under the hood. I was friends with the dealer . The only thing I took off was the Boost controller cause they flip out when they see that and put the cat back on. Everything else stayed on. Then when they had to replace the primary O2 sensor I had everything on it. I was not going to take the stuff off just for that.
