Bummer, some schmuck did this to my wife's Outlander ... I feel for you.

I am not a professional auto-body repair person but here's what I've been told and found to give a good estimate in the past (12 year old son, laundry basket, hood of my old eclipse ... ick)

Carefully (very lightly) drag your thumbnail across the scratch, perpendicular to the direction of travel of the scratch. Drag your finger so that your thumbnail crosses the scratch before your thumb. If you feel the scratch/your nail catches, its unlikely to be repairable in a manner that you will be happy with, short of a respray of the area.

Get a few estimates, file an insurance claim. Ask for referals for paint shops from other board members in your area.
