Okayy this may be a really dumb question... BUT i'm curious to know.

Is there any way we can custom a bigger gas tank into the EVO?

I don't buy that "stay under 3000rpm" to save gas. I like to really drive my EVO. But its annoying to pull over so frequently into a gas station to fill up cz gas runs out so quick.

So is there ANY WAY to get a BIGGER gas tank to fit into the car?

If so, would it be possible to calibrate the gas gauge/needle to a bigger gas tank?

as long as you use the same fuel pump assembly the gas guage will work.

 

If you have a 2003, I heard the 04 has a bigger tank, if thats true, you can order it right from mitsubishi..

 

does anyone know if the 04 has a bigger gas tank?? I personally don't mind having the small gas tank... it saves weight when it's full and it just doesn't really bother me, but I am curious about the 04's.

 

I have an '04 and it has the same tank as the '03. Driving around in the city I usually get 260-270 depending on how aggressive I'm driving. Start driving fast and I watch my MPG shoot down to 200-210. I bigger tank would be a big plus! Either way, still love the car!

 

if you get 260-270 in the city you have a bigger gas tank. I only hit that number on the highways.

 

you can install a fuel cell and somehow incorporate that into the stock fuel system.

The tank on the 04 is said to be 14.7 gallons... anyone care to chime in for the 03?

 

On average, how big are most cars tanks?

 

Dang I average around 260 and just the other day I got 285 and still had about 1/8th tank left. I drive 120 miles a day. Half is highway half is city. I guess it all depends on how much you get on the throttle and the area you live in.

 

What kind of tires are you guys running ? Believe it or not, tires made a HUGE difference in my gas mileage.

With my advans... I was averaging TOPS at around 260-280. With my Pirelli PZero Neros, 400 treadwear, my record highway mileage on a full tank is 336 miles. Mind you, this is running the needle slightly below the last hash in between the the hash and the "E".

 

are those summer tires? or all season?

 

All Seasons. Pirelli PZero Nero 235/45/ZR17 Great tire. Awesome rain traction. Grip well when they are heated up a lot (i.e. a lot of mountain twisty road driving)
. Don't grip nearly as well as the advans though.
