hp per psi increase..

i know it's been discussed before but I can't find it anywhere in the search engine.anyways do any of you know how much hp or whp you gain with each psi that you increase your boost? my car was running at 17 psi and I increased it today with my mbc to 20.5 so I just wanted an idea of how much more hp I am running thanks.

It depends on a few things like the engine's RPM and airflow at that RPM (volumetric efficiency) and also the turbo compressor efficiency at that engine RPM (less efficient = you are forcing hot, less dense air).

For example, all things equal, on a stock setup, going from 19psi to 21psi at 4000rpm will get you more torque than going from 17psi to 19psi at 7000rpm because the system is more efficient there.

as far as i know he raised his boost 3 or 4 psi and an intake..said he dynod at like 245 whp so maybe one or two other things..(when i said friend i meant car buddy that i dont know well lol) but those things seem to get the jump on the roll a lot with the front wheel drive and being much lighter..same whp as me i was not complaining that he beat me..but this time he's mine

It works out to be around 10 hp per pound increase.

Is that so? I set mine to 19.5psi, cuz stock it would hit 17.5 most of the times. I think I'm gonna crank it up to 20.5psi now.

oh well whatever it is..i'm happy to have my mbc installed and to not be running at 17 and 16 psi anymore..i dont know why i was running so low before but it's fixed now sooooooooo yay for my MBC lol oh and the hallman controlled from the cockpit is so much fun to just drive and adjust and see ur needle go up and down ...highly recommend it if u can get a used one..kind of pricey tho for new..thanx for the possible 7-15 hp increases per lb lol who knows how much now cuz everyone says something different but it's all good as long as i'm back to normal next step..ECU flash and turboback!

You have been running low boost because it is so hot outside. Watch out when the cold air of winter sets in. Your boost will go up. Turn the MBC down.

I'm about to get a GREDDY PROFEC B SpecII boost controller. My only other mod is an HKS Hi-Power exhaust. How much can I turn my boost upto while still keeping it safe?
