the A pillar gauge pod is far from ricey... common.. yes... because its totally functional
cutting a hole on the left side of your bumper and doing a fake dual exhaust conversion... now thats ricey

It is perhaps the best place to mount gauges in the evo VIII... the craig hardy panel is nice, but I am waiting for the day when somebody figures out how to mount the HVAC in the lower cubby hole, so that I could put a double din dvd in the radio slot... another place people mount gauges on the evo is on the steering column, but that would interfere with the OEM gauge cluster no matter what
Well, if you had read and understood my entire post, I wouldn't have to clarify, but I will anyway. IF your EVO is stock, there is NO NEED for forty-eleven gauges stuck all over the cockpit. If there were a need for them, they would have come factory. There are a few factory gauges available and placed in a nice factory location, becuase you do NOT need to look at these gauges all the time while driving. I stand by my previous statement in that those with stock or near stock cars with A pillar gauges comes off a little ricey. (domestic cars can be ricey too, Dont believe me? Come to Tennessee, I will show you)

...And for the record, I dont smoke crack, I prefer LSD!

I don't think that the a-pillars themselves are ricey. It's just...Well....So many riced out cars have them. It's like the clear tail lights that are on our cars. How many people have commented on them being ricey, even though they are factory. Or the bookshelf wing? Functional? Ok. Ricey? Could be perceived that way. For me, I just prefer something a little different. I don't do it to impress anyone, I just do it because it means something to me. Also, when I first went to add gauges, 60MM was an impossible size to find pods for, except for the steering column one. I think that if you are wanting to look "at a glance" that 52MM is just a bit too small.

BTW, Quickshift:

Nice interior. More electronic gadgets than an adult toy store. Oh, and you're running a great radar, the Escort Solo 2. I have that same unit in my car. Saved me numerous times.

I personally dont think its "ricey" at all if thats what some of you want to call it. For me I just want to mount my guages thats easy to see. Even though you see other ricey cars have them doesnt mean we cant mount it at that location either. I also agree its functional and doesn't look that bad. Its not like we are putting a bigger wing on our car or putting on stickers that has nothing to do with the car.

Thanks for the info guys, I am going to order the triple guage A pillar pods. The only thing I cant decide is the color of the pods. I will be getting the Defi D guage with black face and was thinking which pods might look better, the matching interior one(white) or the black pods to match the black guages and the dash. If I go with black pods then I would have to paint the passenger side as well. What do you guys think?

This is a pic of a white triple pod with black guages but I think if the pods were black it might look a bit better. This picture is from ScorpioEvo8. Any opinions would be appreciated

I ordered the Lotek dual gauge A-pillar, but didn't use it because the GReddy 60mm gauges are too deep. I have my gauges 'phantom' mounted in GReddy rings and they look fockin' sweet. The only problem is I ordered white guages because I was going to mount them in the A-pillar, so the body of the gauges are white, and don;t match the black interior. I am wrapping the gauges in black vinyl for aesthetic purposes...TO EACH HIS OWN though...

My only problem with them is the attention factor......from the law and thieves.

Cool

I have run a A-pillar pod on my GMC Typhoon for several years now, I love the expression on peoples faces when they see all the numbers moving and wonder why my truck is making all that racket.

My friend has one also and was hit 9 months ago. Seems like you cannot get exterior parts for them anymore like the body cladding and bumpers. Needless to say, he's driving around with no front bumper until one comes up.

About A pillars. I don't like them. Had mine for 6 months and took it off. Blocks visability and attracts too many ricers and racers with the bright indiglow.

I agree with both of these guys...IMO if you need gauges, they are in good view if you mount them in the center console where you can see them. There is no need for everyone to know what you are running. That's just my opinion though
