although the britich pound is worth about 2 of our $$ the price would not be the same over here. for example i was in london for a week this summer and i decided to go out and get a car mag. the price for the current mr in the mag was around 35,000k bp. if ur estimate on the price is true that would mean we would be paying 70k for the mr.

all i am saying you cant speculate our price for future models based on another countrys price. there are so many other vairiables involved.

Althought I really really really love that car, I also really really really hate the side mirrors it has. I don't understand the logic in them. The car is still has the aerodynamics of a grand piano, but yet they put those silly "low drag" mirrors on it. Yeah, they are probably the Ralliart ones that are now painted to match the car, but I still hate them. But that car can eat so many others right out of the box.....It's nice to see a factory backed version, especially in a time when everyone else is saying that the Evo can't make that kind of power for long before it dies.

Absolutely:

Standard reply with examples:

Ford Focus SVT $19,375 in US the same car is called the ST170 in the UK is £16,500 or US$30,098 @ £1.82418=$1 (8/18/04)

The UK MR FQ-340 is £32,990 On The Road using the ratio 19375/16500 gives US$ 38,738.

An M3 is £41,150 or US$ 75,055 from the exchange rate or $48,320 by ratio. The US base is $47,100.

Some have called this GAP pricing. Named after the GAP clothing store. They seem to just convert prices directly from dollars to pounds. $20 sweater = a £20 sweater. forgetting that $1 = £.55

By my calcs a 48K GBP car is US$ 56.4K. Still a bit of money but not in the eighties.

Well, Mistu is not exactly building that car.

All of the UK "FQ" models are actually shipped from Japan as standard Evo 8 GSR's then converted to the various "FQ" specs by local, authorized Ralliart dealers. They add on some HKS intake and exhaust components, fiddle with the boost, add a Ralliart ECU, and swap the wheels. Then they give you their own 3-year warranty. This is not a real "factory" job...but it's close.

As others have said, you could easily match the performance of the FQ-400 by starting with a standard Evo 8 RS (with front LSD) and spending maybe 10 grand on intake, exhaust, boost controller, clutch, strengthened bottom-end, turbo upgrade, and ECU tuning. But you would give up your warranty (for whatever that's worth).

It's pretty funny: I actually know the guy with the STi (MontrealM3). He basically stuck a turbo-back exhaust and cone filter on his car, then pulled the cat and claimed that he was making 400+ hp. That's obviously total BS. When I asked him for dyno sheets, he said that he had never actually tuned or dynoed the car.

Within a few days, his rear bumper turned muddy yellow from all the unburnt fuel. It eventually started to melt. The car runs like sh*t. He still hasn't taken it for a proper dyno tune...but still claims it makes over 400 hp

These are being mapped with the Motec OEM M800 ecu.

Someone mentioned about the engine check light, when mapped via the M800 the engine check light comes on to tell you when to change gear for max performace...........
