I launched mine today fo the first time, (860 miles)
3k = bog 4K = bog 5K Rev limiter, Still bog a little and took off, I'm guessing 6k is the sweet spot???? or I just need more power to get the wheels to spin a bit more Pete, |
Don't launch that much, but when I do it's around 5k.

i have had good experience with a 4.5 k launch a few times on the street. hasnt seen a drag strip yet, so i have some kinks in the technique to work out.

Stock, the best I've found is to bounce the throttle between 5,000 and 5,500 a few times, the QUICKLY release (don't dump) the clutch as it falls to 5,000, and as the clutch releases floor it. It takes practice to get the clutch out and the throttle buried at the same time, but it's sweet when you get it right. No bogging, no clutch smell, no wheel hop (the tires just chirp) and it does not feel like it's a shock to the driveline. I wouldn't do this on uneven pavement or over bumps, though.
Quickly letting out the clutch at 3,500 while flooring the throttle works as well, with a slight bog, but not much difference in 0-60 times on my accelerometer. Probably easier on the clutch and transmission, and not enough difference in acceleration to matter except when you need that 0.1 sec advantage. |
nothing better than a 7 grand launch, anyhting lower, is poo poo

5500,if i want a tenth more off my time,than 6500

i "launch" at 1000rpm every time i've raced and i beat em all so far... too paranoid after i replaced my clutch MYSELF and installed new transfer case MYSELF. So you konw how that must feel to an owner. Basically, i take off normal as if i were just driving to work and floor it and let the turbo and my shifting do the work
