I just read the last part. Its the Euro spec Evo, with the six speed, AYC, and all the other goodies we arn't getting. Also, the STI they compared against is the one without the 2.5. In Europe and Japan, it seems that we have a clear winner, its yet to be seen in the states however, as to who is going to dominate. Nice find otherwise.

If I was living in Europe, Evo 8 all the way! {thumbup}

This article is riddled with inaccuracies... they mention it being the US spec Evo8 and all the pictures are pics of the US 8, but all the stats they talk about, such as 6 speed and 276/290 power ratings is Euro Spec.

Whomever did the research for this article should be fired.

jedinite Feb 7, 2003 07:43 PM

Reading the first pages now, I think the article may be OK - at least not completely inaccurate...

I think they're saying that the Euro spec is going to get the same bumper as the US spec. Can anyone confirm (or comment on) this speculation?

oooooooooooo----super ayc yum yum!

hey! that thing got a hemi?..............sweeeeeeeeeet!:yum: :yum:

I see. I'm guessing that Mitsu brought both the US Evo along with the JDM spec for this test. Allowing EVO Mag to test both cars EVO mag had the first paragraph comment on the U.S. one while the rest of the article was focused on what the UK are gonna get...the real thing.

I just want to thank everyone whom contibuted to help post this article {thumbup}

OK this really makes sense now. Peter Lyon, the guy who wrote this review, is the same guy that wrote the review of the US Evo for AutoExpress which was posted a month ago. The thread with that review is here AutoExpress and EVO Magazine are sister publications. You can check out Evo's website at www.evo.co.uk

Limey, Thanks to you and all of the others involved for getting the EVO(and EVO VIII!) info and images out! I really enjoyed the article and the pics, especially since the yellow EVO's are my favorite.

I was originally bummed about the missing AYC, and now the feedback on the SAYC seems so cool.... its too bad they always see fit to rob us "Yanks" of the full deal that everyone else gets! I guess we should just be glad we are actually finally seeing this car period, right?

I was also interested in the comments about removing the US required safety beams to reduce weight by 50kg ea. I know you shouldn't do that, but it sounds like you might be able to if the mood to get an edge strikes!

Thanks again!
