'05 GSR with dealer-installed HID's?

I'm looking to get an EVO by the end of the month (obviously!) and had a couple of questions for you guys. I don't want the SSL but I do need the HIDs. The dealership I'm talking to right now say that they can install the HIDs in the EVO I want for $700. Do you think this is a good price? Now I don't know if this includes the lamp adjustment switch in the cabin but I was thinking, even without, that sounds like s decent price. Especially since it'll be covered under warrantee. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Get SSL.

That sounds pretty good to me. I am in the same exact position. I traded in my 2004 WW for a 2005 EB last night. I didnt get the SSL package becasue it was more expensive and the only thing I really wanted were the HID's.

At my dealership they told me it would be around 2000 dollars for the parts + labor. I have no idea how much the mitsubishi bulbs and ballasts are so I dont really know how much they are charging for labor. I think Im gonna ask another dealership and also research a conversion kit.

umm id say just get a conversion kit.. about 300 bucks save ur self

conversion kit wouldnt be good. It would put an HID bulb in a halogen housing. It would not have a good cut off and shoot light everywhere. I think the evo's with halogens also have projectors so that might help, might not. From my knowledge of hondas that only way is the get a retrofit to have true HIDs.

Sounds like a reasonable price if they install the in cabin adjustment. IIRC the non-HID and HID housings are the same so you wont have any problems with beam pattern

ummm are you kidding me? we have projectors..... the dealers are just gonan throw the bulbs and ballasts in... I have hidz on my rs the cutoff is one straight line. Dont make a fool out of urself and get the stock ones. Just use mccullochs. get them for like half the price. The DEALERS arent going to do anythign special to your headlights. they are just setting up the kit because we got projectors already.

Don't mean to hijack this thread or anything, but is it true that all aftermarket HID lights are illegal in the states now?

the SSL package come with the auto leveling feature, so you can adjust it from the cabin. . .if that matters. . .oh yeah, and it comes with fogs. . .if you're gonna pay $2k (which is retarded) for HIDs from the dealer, than go with SSL (for 3K). . .I'd just get an aftermarket bulb, I did that with my old car, works great, and judging from that pic, the cut off is clean and sharp. . . I can take a pic of what the SSL cut off looks like, it's sharp on the left, and flares on the right so you can see road signs better. . .

thats why i said I was unsure if the projectors would help or not. Also judging from your pictures they look okay, looks like you have heat spots though- might just be the picture. If you compare it to an oem one the oem cutoff is a little better also they are adjusted to light up the right side more- which could also easily be changed.

found a picture: http://www.haknslash.com/pictures/HI...o/P1010004.JPG

Again i say it might just be your picture but the oem one has no heatspots and a very sharp cutoff :D

oh yeah integras have projectors also, but they do retrofits.
