evo's reponse is wierd now :O

a couple days know i notice when i press on the gas (and give it a constant pressure)as it accelerates the car skips about 500 rpms and the car jukes forward. it used to be a constant pull, but now when i accelerate (even mediocorely) it jukes unless i let the boost roll in really slow. Does anyone know what im trying to say? Thanks for any help.

sounds like your clutch is starting to slip

4WS Tuning Oct 3, 2006 09:47 PM

thats ur clutch 110% i would start making plans for a new one asap

4WS Tuning Oct 3, 2006 09:48 PM

oh and if u have a mbc turn it down all the way and the more u stay out of boost and dont accelerate hard the longer itll last be4 its 100% done

cheers

What year is your evo and how many miles do you have on it? Do you typically drive your evo hard (launching etc.)?

TwoMix9900 Oct 3, 2006 10:03 PM

Listing your mods would definitely help--there's way too many uncertainties.

feautoevo Oct 3, 2006 10:06 PM

Clutch, Clutch, Clutch.... no other questions to ask... mine lasted like 2 months driving it like that though, I did like 4 wheel said and turn down the boost and drive like a granny till you get a clutch on its way...

sorry, didnt list mods because the list is short - APS BOV and cosmetics. I have 10k on my 06 evo9 odo and i dont launch often at all :(.

would mitsu void my warranty if i get an aftermarket clutch? and i heard that the clutches are designed to break as to not tax the tranny. is this correct? or am i just passing uninformed knowledge along lol. Thanks everybody!

chaotichoax Oct 3, 2006 10:40 PM

yes aftermarket clutch and mitsu can and most likely will void drivetrain warranty work

Bdub25 Oct 3, 2006 11:19 PM

What gear does it do that? If it's your clutch slipping it mainly starts in 5th or 6th and works its way down to 1st. If it's in 1st i wouldnt drive the car. That means it's about to go very very soon

fyr3 Oct 4, 2006 12:15 AM

i would say 3rd gear

Bdub25 Oct 4, 2006 12:23 AM

Is that the first time you've noticed it?

evo_rc Oct 4, 2006 12:48 AM

Just save up for the new clutch and don't worry about the warranty. It was already voided when you took the keys in the first day anyways. lol

fyr3 Oct 4, 2006 01:13 AM

yeah first time i noticed it
