Fully built HKS Evo with $20000 just runs high11's
I don't know if you guys noticed but the car magazine Modified has a first page Evo special with a fully built HKS Evo.
Among the most significant mods this car has a 2.3 l motor by HKS and a Turbokit from HKS as well and a long list of aftermarket mods that in my quick estimation it runs above $20000 however they managed a humble 11.87sec 1/4 mile. It just caught my attention that a big manufacturer like HKS fell short to provide a "fast" car specially considering the amount of money they put into. Many people ran high 11's with budgets bellow $1500. This HKS Evo put down more than 450whp..are they choosing bad drivers for these type of test? Here is the link: https://www.evolutionm.net/misc/modified.php If you have the time , please stop in a store and read the magazine. Carlos |

Hmmm...does it really matter since it's a show car? But I agree. $20k in mods should see better times.
It is still an underachievement in my opinion. Carlos |
I bet more than 80% of the $20k went towards show/aesthetics/non-performance mods.

Yeah I have the mag as well and thought it may be an interesting read.. After seeing the time it ran though it was quite pitiful for how much was invested..

Turbokit= at least $3000 full HKS exhaust= at least $1000 HKS IC = $900 or more plus piping HKS 680 cc injcetors= $500 2.3 motor= at least $4000 or 5000 I am sure I am missing a lot of other engine mods. Trust me, too many engine mods. It is clear they fell short on 1/4 mile times no matter what angle you look at it. Carlos |

I am sure that car is built to last at something a lill more involving then drag racing. I dont know maybe something like roadracing? just a thought.
|
yeah seems kinda slow for the amount of$$$$
|
Did they provide the MPH. Maybe they didn't launch it and granny shifted.?????
|
the MPH was somewhere between 113 and 117mph but I am not exactly sure. One more time, they fell reallly short performance wise. I am sure they had all freaking day to launch that car over and over until they obtained that number.
If I am the HKS manager I would be a bit ashame of those numbers with such power. I am sure they are also running their own HKS reenforced clutch. I want to make clear though that despite the low numbers HKS is a heck of a manufacturer and perhaps one of the elite in the world. my .2c Carlos |

It was built for road course and I think when it ran those numbers it was done on pump according to C&D rules for the superfour challange. I bet with a few tweaks it would be faster. |
