What's wrong with my Defi gauges.

So all the sudden on my way home from work I noticed that my Defi oil pressure gauge stopped working. It's lit up and go on/off just fine but it will not read anything and set at 0 psi & scared the Sh1t out of me:crap:. The alarm warning did not go off either. Is there a way to reset that.:helpme::helpme::helpme::helpme:

have you checked to make sure everything is hooked up fine and nothing might have come undone?

Lessor Apr 7, 2008 09:01 AM

gonna have to check everything, something had to of come loose

EvoDan2004 Apr 7, 2008 09:04 AM

if it stopped working either the wire from the gauge to the link is f'ed up or the wire from the sensor to the link is f'ed up.

if it lights up but does not work i would start from the sensor to the link box.

if is does not light up or work then strt from the gauge to the link box

ya I will try that. like you said it might be the sensor but I am not sure yet. My boost & EGT are working fine, and I hope I don't need another control unit this one is only 16 month old.

oil pressue hooks up with a hose.....same with defi correct or no?....if it is a hose dont drive the car because u could be shooting oil out of the line

no man it's a wired sensor.

do you have a block adapter with your oil pres sensor? and does it beep at all when it sits at 0?

Is there anyway to replace the defi sensor with another kind. Defi sensor is like $170.

AznEvoIX Jul 16, 2008 05:59 AM

I got Defi gauges, but I wouldn't suggest mixing and matching sensor with the gauges. You might be able to find a cheaper one somewhere else though, thats authentic. Try "Private For Sale" or Ebay perhaps? =)

But first things first, just make sure it wasn't a botched install. Like someone else said, a wire could've just gotten loose.

Also, make sure the wires that run from the sensor didn't rub on something in the engine bay to cut that wire or short circuit it.

Bet you some chocolate chip cookies thats what it is.

No all the wires are good. it worked fine for over a year and then stopped. Even on ebay they are 170+

EVIL MR Jul 16, 2008 06:41 AM

More info on that short circuit thing!

Are they good because you checked them, or because it worked for over a yr? I'm confused, because you are still asking about them being shorted. Something doesn't add up.

First thing I would check is the pressure sender. You have a multimeter? You may want to get one.
