Strange rattling noise at 3500rpm's

Need some help figuring out what might be wrong with my IX.

3 months ago my hose blew off the turbo and the Mitsu service dept put it back on and said nothing else was wrong. About a month later I started hearing a strange "whooshing" sound coming from the engine. It was fairly sporadic. I took it back in for an oil change and asked if they could fix whatever the noise was. They told me they couldn't hear it. Over the past few days i'm hearing a rattling noise that is definately audible around 3500rpm's. If I pull up next to a wall I can hear it even when the car is idling.

Any ideas?

Thanks
helm

Check your exhaust and intake tube for leaks.

Well..just got back from Mitsu.. it was a loose heatshield ;)

i remember on the honda boards - every week there was a post about 3500 rpm rattle, and it was always the heat shields.

same thing happened on both my integras.

i had a weird high pitch rattling noise.. it was a exhaust hanger from the buschur turbo back rubbing against the hanger part that holds the rubber hanger in place.

Our cars can make a lot of strange noises. Like D/Ps ratting against crossbars.
