Yahoo's article.

Kinda surprised to see :mitsu: Lancer being on the list for most expensive to insure. Any thoughts?

Chemwarrior Jul 27, 2008 06:22 AM

I would have to assume it is because of all the younger people that buy these cars and then crash them.

way2low01 Jul 27, 2008 06:23 AM

That list makes no sense to me. The ser-spec v was one of the cheapest cars ive ever owned to insure. My s2000 was more expensive to insure than the lancer

i read that article earlier this morning and i was really surprised by some of the cars that did and didn't make the list.

I used to own a Tiburon and my insurance was significantly lower...does this mean I can stop paying through the roof for the Evo?

Ah the insurance companies, one of the few places that can thrive on profiling. Despite my virtually flawless driving record (no accidents for which I was at fault, no tickets, hell never even been pulled over) I still pay more than the girl down the road who yaps on her cell phone at every turn. :crap:

I think the "Lancer" is being mistaken for an Evo....

ddfelix5494 Jul 27, 2008 07:23 AM

That list means that the lancer (evo or not) is one of the top ten cars responsible for losses by insurance companies, my insurance isnt by any means rediculous but its still pretty high

Fast-Mover Jul 27, 2008 09:00 AM

I pay 170 a month for full coverage, that in my mind is ok.

donmeca2020 Jul 27, 2008 09:02 AM

all i know is i cant wait til my baby is paid off. im definetly droping the insurance to something lower then the full coverage. does anyone know if your insurance actually drops when you hit 25? i hit 25 last weekend im still awaiting answers from some of the companies

Vibrant Jul 27, 2008 09:03 AM

$92 a month here, full coverage.

Chemwarrior Jul 27, 2008 10:05 AM

That list is based off of the quantity of insurance claims that insurance companies get. Since the cars on that list are predominately bought from younger men who in turn have the highest percentage of tickets and accidents you can see how the list turned out. It's about statistics.
