Hvac problems on blowing air on 4. 1,2,3 all don't work.
My blower motor went out and I replaced it today. Theres only power going to it when I turn the knob to 4. 123 don't work. Any Ideas? Please only reply if you know what you're talking about.

uv got a bad blower motor resistor. i work at a gm dealer and they are REAL common. not sure where it is located on our cars but that is what you need.

I have a slightly different issue... my gauges are incorrect, I have to turn it to Defrost to get heat, even when the other dial is on heat...

Yep, definitely the blower motor resistor.

I was thinking something like that, I just need to know where to find it.
Anyone know where the blower motor resistor is? |
I'd suspect the actual switch on the dash.

Still if anyone knows for sure let me know either in this thread or through PM. Thanks, -Wevo |
If only the highest setting works then theres a 99% chance its the blower motor resistor. This is because on the highest setting the resistor is completely bypassed.

In the mean time just move the temp selector to the middle, give or take, to suit your comfort zone.

Low, medium low and medium high blower speeds all use the resistor block. Low feeds through three resistors, medium low two resistors and medium high just one resistor. Lose this last resistor and you lose all three speeds. The resistor block also has a fuse in it. Lose the fuse and lose all three lower speeds.
According to the shop manual the resistor block is somewhere between the blower motor and the console and has a 4-wire plug on it. It is attached to the ducting by 2 screws. I looked under but didn't find it. |
