Do Evos come with a magnetic oil drain plug?

Its raining outside so i figured just easier to ask!!

Does an 04 Evo8 GSR come with a magnetic oil drain plug, or is that an atermarket item?

Also, is there any problems with a cheap autozone oil filter, or do u go for a particular model?

I was taught a long time ago to fill the oil filter with oil before putting it on to prevent a second of no oil. You guys believe that?

Nope u need to go buy one...i need to do that now that u said somethin haha!

yeah dont buy any other oil filter then the stock Mitsubishi one. Dont ask questions just do it cuz i have read and read and read about it and i compared the other ones to the stock one and hands down the stock one is bigger.

yes it dont hurt to put sum oil into the oil filter.

I have been using the Mobil 1 oil filters from Autozone now since 04. I think it is the M108. I have had no problems at all with them.

Both will work the m110 is just a little longer, some auto store computers will say m108 and some will say m110. Ive even seen some say another m103 maybe???

i was always taught to put oil in the filter when putting in, and do it everytime.
i never questioned why, but i guess it makes sense what you said.

No it is not. The engine oil drain plug is NOT magnetic.

The transfer case, transmission and rear diff plugs are magnetic.

huevosrancheros May 13, 2009 08:34 PM

oil pan drain bolt is not magnetic.

Xearo May 14, 2009 09:45 AM

aha. Im buying a mean neodymium magnet today and im just going to slap it on to the oil pan. So it just occured to me, if u have an aluminum block, there is no point to the magnet. Whats our blocks made of?

borievoinitialD May 14, 2009 09:48 AM

Evo VIII and IX's have an aluminum head and an iron block.:mitsu:
