All Evo's California Certified?
 

So here's the story: I'm set to buy an Evo IX this weekend. Problem is, the car is registered in Illinois and I want to register it in California. So here's my question: are all Evo IX's California Certified?

all the Evo's that have been sold as new in the US are CA legal (same cars were sold in all 50 states without any differences). cars coming into CA from out of state require smog certification before registration followed by DMV inspection (inspection is really simple....mostly they check brake lights, VIN, etc.).

Are california cops or highway patrol still tracking down modded Evo or any cars? I am thinking about driving down there and i am from Washington state and im kinda worried to drive mt Evo down there. Any input about this is greatly apppreciated.

If a California cop gets behind you they will favor to pull you over rather than any other cars around so be careful. Its just part of owning an evo here. You should be fine as long as you do not drive through DUI checkpoints, theyll kill you there if they see your car, drinking or not.

You'll be fine if you have Washington plates. And yes, cops can be ridiculous here but honestly a lot of it comes down to wrong place, wrong time- wrong cop.

I went to Cali Once in my Evo, got harassed by cops but no tickets because i'm from Utah with Utah Plates, so I was just there to visit. Let me narrow this down, I got harassed the most in Long Beach, but when I was in San Jose it seem fine. I dont know.. I think its because Long beach is getto lol.

I live the bay area, and so far I haven't had any problems with any cops, but my car is stock. I only get harassed by hondas, and srts

Avoiding California cops is simple just remove the wing. Cops here are completely visual, if you look like a racer they will assume you are. My brother is learning this the hard way in a Tiburon of all cars lol.

He's got it re-badged so it looks like an exotic from a distance and guess what... cops are all over him heh!.

Just depends on where you are and what you're doing. Just play by the rules and you'll be fine. I haven't been harassed by any cops yet *knock on wood*

Yeah they'll get you for tint or for whatever small thing. Just drive smart.

haha Long Beach is ghetto, a lot of car thieves are from there.... just saying not hating B)

Thank you guys for all the input. I really appreciate it. I was thinking about visiting my parents in Bay Area (Alameda area) with my Evo this summer. Although my Evo has a loud exhaust. i live in the bay area, and the only time the cops messed with me is when i was speeding. bay area cops are very chill about mods unless you are driving like a douche. or if you have a buick with 22's. lol.
