SpoolinUp COP Swap - Engine Won't Turn Over
I just did a COP install and the engine won't turn over. It cranks but doesn't catch. Swapping back to OEM will get it to turn over immediately. Any ideas?
Did you plug in both sides?
Did you get it from the website or 2nd hand? |
Got it from the website but it is the kit. I'm going to test it to make sure all of the wiring is good.
Tested the wiring and it's all correct and working. It's looking like the coils.anybody know a quick way to test the coils?
Did you check the ignition fuse? Switching to the COP blows the OEM 10, it's recommended to switch to a 20 amp.
I used the 15a fuse that came with it. Didn't blow the fuse though.

If you bought new the chances of more than one ignition coil being dead are next-to-nothing. The engine will run on three cylinders, and probably even manage to run on two
check to make sure you've got the correct plugs hooked up and they're not on backwards. |
Plugs are correctly wired. Anybody have any tips to test this?

did you buy the new coil set or the used coil set? you can check the resistance in the coils with an ohmmeter. if the coils show open, they are bad. most likely, if you can swap the old ones with no problems, you have a wiring problem, or all the coils are bad. it's very rare to have 4 bad coils, but if you bought the used cop kit, you might have just got a bum set. I heard matt at spoolin up is very good about service, so I would contact him for some ideas. I also have the spoolin up kit, and it has been awesome. I bought the new coil kit.
Thanks. I'm going to check the coils. I got what I thought was a set of new densos but showed up in some knockoff looking package.
was the unit not assembled? if you bought from spoolinup it should have been fully assembled
check if its sparking with the coils of, connected to a spark plug, out the engine head close to anything grounded.
