Where to get 3/8BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter
I'm trying to find a 3/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter for the oil pressure sensor. But since 42 draft design doesn't make it any more. I can't find any of them in google.
Also from what I have searched, the AMS remote oil pressure line has one 1/8 NPT end and one 3/8 NPT end not 3/8 BSPT, so i think it won't fit the car. It would be very nice if you guys can share me some info. |
I just went through this mess. They make this adapter for hydraulic fittings, but if you can't find it, you might have to use an intermediate adapter. It also sucks that NPT and BSPT are not interchangeable.
Here is a brass one that is available through a US seller. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-BSPT-Ma...IAAOSw5KFbSDS5 Make sure you use high temp thread sealant. What I hate about NPT/BSPT fittings is that they sometimes decide to leak by themselves, but the evo block has a few of them. It's borderline dark magic. |

For automotive applications, having O-Ring Boss, -AN, quick disconnect, crush washer, and socketless fittings is more than good enough for me. I can't think of a single use case for cars where a pipe thread fitting couldn't be replaced by something less dangerous by the manufacturer. If done right, NPT and BSPT shoudn't leak, but they are often done wrong and eventually DO leak lol. Here we are stuck with them unless we weld. I have broken a few of these fittings and royally screwed myself from over-tightening :lol: |
Same here: "I think I can go a LITTLE tighter...." then I stop out of pure fear. I don't like any fitting that ever gives you a clear sign of being tight LOL.
Next time I have my car down, I'm gonna pull the OFH and weld an -an fitting. This brass stuff is just crap LOL |
Thank you, that's the adapter. So you mean I still need to use some sealant even though i use adapters?

Absolutely. All npt, bspt, etc fitting should have sealant.

This part from AMS works as well. Remember to use a blow torch to heat up the plug before you try to take it out of the oil filter housing. Otherwise you might round out the hex.

There may be some residual, yah. I drained my pan and hadn't run the car for a while, so it was minimal for me.

You don't need the adapter if you use the remote line. The remote line goes directly into the oil filter housing.
