K where did you get the "Craig Hardy's dash panel" ????
how much $$$??? PM me!

Ludikraut Jun 8, 2004 01:30 PM

You can get it from Gruppe-S for ~$160 (www.gruppe-s.com). I was part of the fourth group buy ... there's a whole thread dedicated to it: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=74699 :)

Just a couple ?'s

How good is the stock wiring to the door speakers?

How much of a pain are the door panels to get off/on?

Did you leave the pillar speakers hooked up?

Nice setup tho I had those same speakers & alpine amp in my celica :)

IMHO the stock wiring to the door speakers sucks a$$, the reasons being:
- :mitsu: does not use a crossover for the front component speakers
- front speaker wiring is simply split into two as part of a PITA harness that's located near the wheel wells in the passenger compartment (one on each side)

I chose to route new wiring completely ... if you look closely at the door pics, you'll see where the new speaker wire (wrapped in white electrical tape) goes from the door to the passenger compartment. Also because the Infinity's use a crossover, I chose to mount the Infinity tweeter on the door instead of trying to use the stock location.

How much of a pain are the door panels to get off/on?

Not bad at all. I did get a copy of the service manual ($cheap$ off eBay), which showed me where all of the mounting points were at. As long as you use something flat and wide (read: not a screwdriver, rather something kinda like a bottle opener), the panel comes off without too much of a problem. It re-assembled fairly well also, meaning that I didn't pick up any additional rattles :p

Did you leave the pillar speakers hooked up?

Nope, they are still connected to the stock wiring, but since I bypassed the front speaker wiring altogether, they are off. For the rear speakers I did use the stock wiring, I even bastardized the stock speakers and connected the Infinitys using the stock speaker harness. :D

All-in-all it sounds 1000% better than stock ... also got an Infinity Basslink sub waiting to be hooked up, but I'm going to wait until I relocate my battery to the trunk b4 I hook it up.

Hey looks good. I was hoping you could tell me how you like your razo shift knob? I need a new shift knob, but I haven't been able to find one that really caught my eye. That one I've seen on lancershop, but I can't decide if I like it or not. Maybe some more pics and/or your personal experiences with it? Thanks!

Lol scratch that- just found another thread where you talk about it and share another view. I think I like it, but I'm not too sure about the shape. :dunno:

Like the stereo relocation, but would REALLY like to re-locate the HVAC down there instead, to free up room for a double DIN stereo up the top :D

Anyone know if ANY manufacturor makes a HVAC relocation kit to accomplish the above.

I've mentioned it in another thread, and I'll mention it again.... I do not know if this works, but it's what I may try someday. The 3G Eclipse HVAC controls are layed out in the same manner as our factory controls, but they are in a DIN sized panel under the radio in the Eclipse. This HVAC control panel looks identical to the HVAC panel that is used in the UK EVOs that have the HVAC controls in the radio relocation pocket. I think this panel can be made to work with our car, if not a direct hookup it can probably be bastardized to work.

I've wondered the same thing. Our controls use a low-tech wire linkage and I believe the UK HVAC controls are all electronic. If so, I don't think it would be an easy conversion. :dunno:
