How can you tell if you have version 1 or version 2 down pipe..whays the difference?does Gs still ships v1 out to consumer..just installed my dp last
weekend and i notice its very close the the oil pan about 1/8 or 1/4 in. and
at the other end clost to the cat. it touches the subframe.every time going
over a small bump,you can really hear it hits the subframe..is this a install problem
or a defective dp..pleas help

I have stock o2 housing + v2 Helix 3" DP +stock cat+Esplier catback. Install was pretty tight - dp was very close to frame, oilpan and frame crose bars but it does not touch anything, not even over bumps. It did not have any model numbers to speak of.

I would try to wiggle it then tighten it...gl

 

I'm not sure which version I have. I am pretty sure it's version1 though because I bought it used right around the time the version2 downpipes were starting to be sold. I have no issues with the downpipe touching anything it's not supposed to. It is a really nice fit. There's roughly 1/2" clearance on the oil pan and about the same on the lower tie bars. I've got a 3" UR cat delete and JIC exhaust and the downpipe was the last of the 3 exhaust pieces I installed.

 

i plan on getting a helix dp. which is the better version? is it even possible to get v1?

 

The ver2 is what is on sale right now. You can get this DP from Gruppe-S or SP Engineering.
I believe Gruppe-S is having a special offer for these downpipe right now. I believe they will also include a pair of Kartboy DP hanger bushings for free.
