How To Mount Lancershop Autometer Steering Column Single Gauge Pod
Hey all...I guess a couple of people were wondering how to do this...so I figured I'd post...I didn't see any 'how-to' for this specific pod..so I apologize if this is a double post. I would have posted on www.socalevo.net but only moderators allowed....
Anyhow...here it is....I used it for my boost gauge..as it was a combo deal from Lancershop....
First of all....I used this great 'how to' for the boost gauge tube hookup

then....begin by removing oem column cover......
2. Here are the covers side by side.....OEM on the left.....Autometer on the right.....
3. Then I went on to apply the double-sided tape. Then I drilled a hole on the back of the pod for my boost tube outlet (you'll see how it all comes together). Some of you might want a cleaner look buy going underneath...but for me...it was too much of a crimp on the tube. This 'hole' seemed to be the best location to keep the tube from getting crimped.

4. Then I mounted the two together....
5.....next....drill a couple of 3/16 holes on each side.....AFTER the opening where the steering column goes.....
This wear the plastic rivets will go to make it a really tight fit....
6. Push in and install your plastic rivets......

7. Now....drill a small hole at the base of the pod. You will need to do this because...once the two pieces are together, there is no outlet for your eletrical wires and boost tube. I drilled two holes just in case I wanted to route the BOOST TUBE underneath the pod....but it wasn't a good place as it was easily crimped when using the steering wheel height adjuster. I ended up using the hole I originally drilled (step #3)....
Make sure you are drilling the hole right under the pod...so you don't end up drilling the wrong side...
8. Bring the pod to the car and rest it on top of the steering column as you insert your BOOST TUBE and electrical wires......
BOOST TUBE should go through the back of the pod...and wires go below....through the bottom hole....
...here is what it should look like...
9. Pull everything through and push in your gauge....(mine was a D-gauge, so it fit perfectly without any adjustments to the pod housing....
Push the pod cover back down into the stock position. Everything should line up nicely, since the base is the stock OEM base......
10. Follow the original steps to wiring up the boost gauge...and you are now set....
....enjoy......(I ended up keeping my TT on top since there is still room...)

The kit comes like this....with 4 plastic rivets.......
you could use two for the rear...like how I had them...and assuming you drill the holes clean, you could use the other two for the front of the column.
The only thing that may be an issue is clearance. You'll have to clear all the column switches. I think that is why they designed it with the sticky.
IMO it holds really nice...
oh...and BTW......
I never noticed it until white05evoVIII pm'd me about it....so I went to check.....
When I turn the wheel....there is a tiny little soft rub at the top-front of the pod where it meets the steering wheel. When I wiggle the wheel left to right a bit.....I hear it...but hardly noticeable. Only if I'm REALLY listening for it.
When making full turns..I don't hear anything.

I wouldn't say it is 'impossible'....i suppose with a nice dremel and steady hands...you could open it up to hold a 60mm...but I don't know how that would look in the end though.

I don't suppose you have a picture taken from the driver's point of view? It looks to me like those pods would block some of the warning lights on the tach. If they didn't I'd like to use one myself.
