Do you have to take off the bumper or does that just make it easier and give you a chance to do it cleaner?

you really need to off. you need a nice tidy place for the ballast and ignitors. dont be afraid to remove it though. it is easy, and goes back together easy too. the whole operation took 2.5 to 3 hours, and i was poochin it.

i would really reconsider relocating the ballasts to a location where there is less likely to have water hitting it. i fried 2 ballast on different cars when water hit them. or at least use silicone to seal the seams and the connectors.

I just installed a hella 5000k system in my 06 non ssl. If you get a hella system, you only have a ballast and 1 adapter cable. It looks a lot cleaner and the ballast w/ integrated igniter is only 1/2 the size of the one you see here. Just an FYI if someone is considering.

If I were to do it again, I probably would go 6000k since the projector lamps are kinda blue anyway. The 5000k is kinda wierd in the color.

Great write up. It only took me 30 mins to drop the bumper, its really easy. Don't be imtimidated, its cake.

We always have the kits in stock and have sold tons of them. Install is very easy and the 6000K units look just like the stock HID's.
