I just got a mallet and just pound that rotor until it got loose. I think it was rusted in so it wouldn't slide out. The front just came right off but the rears were stuck in. I'm not sure what everone is talking about maybe I did it wrong but good luck anyways.

Yeah i think mine is rusted on, as the bolt trick didn't work. Any idea what i should do next? I tried hammering it out and it didn't work either. I twisted the bolt in some more and ended up breaking some spring cup holder behind the rotor.

turns out the parking brake got shifted. after hammering it out had to buy a replacement pin holder and fix the parking brake. I blame my bro in law for pulling my ebrake... haha

Yep Having the same problem. What a PITA. Jeep with 200000 miles rotors come right off. Evo 25000 miles refuse to come off. Just hit it with wd40 few min going to hit it with a mallet a few times. If not going to try the shroud bolt.

Please make sure you don't have the e-brake on before you try and remove the rear rotor.

how does the hub itself come off Im trying to put my wheel studs in.. Do I have to remove the ball joints? or does the hub unbolt like the hondas do?Also does the ebrak need to be taking apart?

Just to add, I had the same problem tonight changing my rotors...I was like WTF the rotor is frozen/rusted on

Found this thread in a search and the radiator shroud bolt worked like a charm!!
Much better than the 10 min's I spent with a rubber mallet and some WD40

Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions, especially the radiator bolt trick

no no no, no hammer! i made that mistake and did more damage then good with my parking brake.

its a drum (we all know this) when it wears out, a lip is formed on the inside which prevents the rotor from sliding off the parking brake shoes.
if you look on the backside of the rotor/ heatsheild youll see an oval shaped rubber gromet, take that out and inside is a wheel you turn to release tension from the parking brake. then the rotor will come off no problem. ill see if i can find a picture, but if you look on the back of the rotor you should be able to figure it out.

"I've never seen a drum brake that didn't have some means to access the self-adjuster. Usually it's an oval-shaped hole near the center of the lower half of the back plate. There's a rubber piece you have to pull out of the hole, and then you stick a screwdriver in there to loosen the adjuster. There will probably also be a little piece holding the star wheel part of the adjuster, so it only turns in one direction. In that case, you need 2 screwdrivers. One to hold the little piece off the star wheel, and the other to turn it the way the piece wouldn't allow it to go.

I really hate drum brakes."- from another thread
