Wow, you didn't waste any time. I was skeptical about documenting installs due to the visibilty of these types of things. Now that you have a dedicated place for these, it should make it easier on all of us trying to help others with installs. I will be contributing more in the near future.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As far as butt dyno guesses go, couldn't tell you. I don't have a keen butt when it comes to gains. What I did notice is that boost went up. I had to dial it back down 1.5 psi.

 

nice write up and documentation... i was a little dissapointed by the sound clip though...

If we don't plan on upping the boost anytime in the near future, would a 3" exhaust hurt out performance...?

I'm just looking for something that is going to give this beast a nice deep rumble... no fart pipes for me please...

 

Why were you disappointed with the sound? Too raspy? I will be putting up more sound bites since I have installed the high-flow cat. Currently the weather is too crappy to shoot the videos. You will get more by increasing your flow. There is a thread out there referencing gains from exhaust only. Don't forget, boost will be delivered a little higher as well.

 

is it okay for the boost level to creep up to 21-22psi without having to worry about the increased load on the internals...?

i think i may just start with a cat-back and then later do the DP and cat / test pipe...

yeah, i thought it sounded to high almost... and "metallic"...? hell i don't know... i guess i'm used to the rumble from Mitsu's V6...

 

Diesel, the car is running rich as it is. Withouth a boost controller, the boost will rise to around 20, then taper off around 18. The stock internals can handle this because you are running rich and you are only peaking for a split second. I would recommend not doing a test pipe unless you go with a system with resonators or quiet muffler. The strait through design is what creates the metallic sound. I was astonished by the difference mine made with installing the cat versus the test pipe.

 

That was BADASS due.. Good job
