Is it possible for an ordinary owner to change TC/tranny fluid?

With all the horror stories about the wrong oil going in the wrong tank I have been considering changing these fluids myself. I can and do do my own oil changes, but have no idea what is involved with the TC/tranny. Is it a major hassle which should be left to the dealership or is it something I can do myself in the parking lot/driveway?

You could do them on your garage but lifting the car uneven might give you internal bubbles of air when filling up the transfer case and gearbox.

Overall is not difficult.
