I'm pulling mine off to sandblast them. This does look like a nice method. I'm almost tempted to go ahead and pull this off.

thing is if you remove the line you have to bleed your brakes..... and as i found out the hard way alunimum calipers and steel bleeders oxidize together and in no way shape or form like to be loosened or removed... almost had to buy a new caliper when i did this.....had one break off in the caliper too....... was a nightmare with some good old PB blaster and a little heat... the part that worries me most is that my car only had 50k on it.......

its a 19mm socket and they'll pop right off.

Anyone here use anything higher than 400 grit when sanding? I want the surface to be very smooth before painting it.

you want to finish with at least 600. 400 will leave sand scratches

I have just finished mine Almost. I messed up and took them off the car and Im fixing my mistake"Brake Fluid & Brake Cleaner" It was not 100% Dry and cured yet..But I did the Four step ProcessAfter cleaning and stripping.

Step 1.
Clean
Step 2
Strip "Tal-Strip"-Sand & Wipe With Alcohol
Step 4
Primer "Engine Enamel Grey"500F
Dupli-Color Red Caliper Paint "Rattle Can"500F
Apply Decals "XenonMods.com" 10.99 Shipped all 4 corners with extras.
Engine Enamel Clear 500F

Just started mine this week, spent the last couple days dremeling all the clear off. Its a pain in the A$$ but sanding is way worse. Will post pics when done.

How much sanding do you do? Are you supposed to sand all the original red paint off? or just the original clearcoat?

I Used Tal-Strip from Avanced auto to get it done and just sanded what was left and then used fine sand paper to get a nice surface and then did my steps.I also used alcohol afterwards to clean reidue off.
