Best results polishing stainless?

What compound and equipment have you guys used to polish stainless? I am fabricating a couple of parts, and want to see what results others have had.

For light applications I use Nevr-Dull, but I haven't ever had to polish anything more hardcore than a tail pipe.

I use never dull on stuff that already has been polished previously as well. But what I have now is some sheet stainless and rod stock that I am making a part out of. It has no finish, so I will need to use some kind of compound with abrasive I am sure.

start with sandpaper ... work your way to finer and finer grits .... up around 8,000 you should be really happy... but go to 15 - 18K if you really want to see a true deep mirror polish
