Tried this today, sat cutting one spot for 20 minutes, never saw the "signs" that it's working. Sealed back and put them back on the car. The dremel how to post needs to be put back on the how to sticky.

I know it's an old post, But I recently open my tail light based on him so I thought maybe to share my experience from this little adventure.
After opening my headlight paint them and close it back in less then 24 hours, I assume that the tail light should be easy too - WRONG.
first I did my left tail light using a knife, I crack the glass in a few places and after accidentally stabbed myself I decided that in the right tail light I will use a dremel.
Its true that using a dremel I dont need heat gun and the glass came out without a scratch, But the dremel make a huge gap between the plastic and the glass.
So both methods have disadvantages.
So my TIP for those how really want to paint their tail light, And do million dollar work, Is to have 2 sets of lights,
The first set should be done using a dremel, So you will get 2 (right and left) clear undamaged glasses.
And the second one using heat gun and a knife and you will have 2 undamaged lights base.
I've attached a few photos
