I got the HKS type-1 and HKS harness from Rob (coolguy949), installed it myself and I don't have this problem. Takt the key out fast or slow and there isn't one slight stutter. No one would even know i took out the key if they didn't see me.

no alarm...CAUTION NOTE... the EVO from my understanding from my quasi-uncle who used to be a service manager at a mistu dealership told me that the EVO CANNOT have an alarm. it causes problems with interferring with the ignition electrical system. and that is why it is NOT a option from the factory. apparently the electrical system is very touchy in the EVO for some reason and alarms interfer. quite possiblty why you guys have problems. but to make the mass judgement that Greddy harnesses have problems, is incorrect since i have one without issues.

mprtklr... but you are using a GReddy Harness WITH a Greddy Timer. I am using an HKS timer with Greddy harness. You don't think its possible that the greddy harness is giving problems when it is used WITH an HKS timer?

When i got my TT, the HKS harnesses were all on backorder..but i was told the greddy harness was exactly the same. It may look the same, but this is the only thing i can think of that might cause this problem. I also spoke with HKS tech support, and they told me that I should be using the HKS harness.

I'm willing to pay the extra 15 bucks to see if this fixes it. I'll keep everyone updated.

I think it is the Greddy harness. I'm using the HKS harness and I have not problems what so ever.

I have the hks and no problems here whatsoever, you cannot even notice when you pull out the key. One thing you can do is get some dielectric grease and put it in between the splices and see if that helps. Might be some clearence issues with the connectors. Just a thought

I have an alarm and it does not cause a problem.

The problem is i have to take the key out with the quickness in order for it to have a semi smooth transition. If i just turn the key to the OFF position, and do not take it out.. my ENGINE STOPS for a second.. then turns BACK ON, then the RPM's jump up to 2-3k and drop back down to idle.

Also, the problem is some people have NO issues whatsover when taking the key out. They can't even tell they took the key out. With mine, you can definitely notice the engine trying to shut down, then the TT restarting everything to keep it on. I don't see how this could be very good for the car.

I spoke with coolguy949, and the HKS harnesses are on backorder for 2 weeks. I'll post results soon.

Well, I fail to see the point of your post. If you're not having the problem, why post?

There is a known problem with the greddy harness. If you don't have this problem, you're lucky. (or are using a different harness)

I have the problem that the RPM drops to ZERO and comes back to idle. But it always come back and counts down as normal. The point is that my TT also do this stutter but the TT still does its job reguardless of this 'stutter'. To me, it's not a big deal, and I don't understand why people makes a big deal out of it?

btw. I have the same setup, Greddy harness and type-1 TT

well.. it's not a 'big deal', but it is annoying. I have lots of friends with turbocharged cars, and all their TT's are completely seamless when they take the key out. Thus it makes me wonder why my car does this, and if it is hurting it in any way.

But if i can take 10 minutes to post on a message board, and spend 18 bucks to fix it, then i'll do it. Thanks for your input, it seems to futher validate that it is the GReddy harness with HKS TT that is causing this.

just spent 16 bucks and switched my harness to an HKS MT-6. Now when i take the key out it is completely seamless. Problem solved. The issue is with the GReddy harness. Thanks guys.

I need to order a new harness then, because that is most likely my problem.
