Does anyone have a how to guide or instructions on how to remove the motor? I tried several of the PDF service manuals and none of them really talk about how to actually remove the motor.

 

i dont think theres any write up, but its pretty straight forward.
alot of people drop the front subframe and drop the engine out the bottom.. i took mine out of the top. you have to remove the transfer case, i left my tranny on you can take that off as well.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention I will be needing to remove it through the top since I don't have a proper lift, just a regular jack and jackstands.

Currently the head, intake, exhaust, and turbo and downpipe are already out. From what I've heard, if you're taking the engine out through the top, you don't need to remove the transfer case? Does this mean the wheels/hubs/driveshafts can stay in place?

 

the transfer case will not come out while attached to the motor.. it goes too far under the car.
you need to remove the axles to remove the input shaft which connects the tranny to tcase. read the link i posted itll tell you how to do this
