Wet sanding headlight lense?
Wet sanding headlight lense?
I just painted my heads black thanks to the nice write up on here but now I am noticing how scratched up my lenses are. Anyone know of a write up on how to wetsand the scratches out?
we have a kit to headlight polishing kit at work. you sand the with 800 grit dry the move to 1000 and then 3000 wet. then polish them. it takes about 20 minutes with the orbital sander but by hand it would obviously take much longer. if there really bad start with 500 grit. it makes them look brand new
you should go to walmart, where they change tires and stuff and ask for one of the kits that they use on the headlight restorations. it works great, it comes with 2 sand papers, a buffing compound, and a sealant that works very well. after you sand it up with the kit and then buff it, the lights still look scratched but it seems like the sealant fills in the scratches. i used this on my headlights and they look new now.
Ya a buddy of mine at work said they sell a kit in some shops. I thought maybe somebody here could recommend a specific kit but I guess I'll just give any I can find a try.
