Manifold removal guidelines
Manifold removal guidelines
This is how I did mine. This may/may not work for you. I am just going to give what I did right and what i did wrong so maybe you can learn from what i did.
1. Remove upper heat shield.(after this point the manifold looks like a piece of cake)
2. Remove nuts and bolts holding the manifold to the head.
3. Remove downpipe completely.
4. Remove bracket right next to where the downpipe mounts. this mounts the trubo to the block.(this will give the turbo a little play do the manifold can clear the studs.
5. Remove bolt that goes through the passenger side motor mount. (remember to support engine when doing this)
6. Lift motor until you feel comfortable with the amount of space you have. (I had about a inch above the stock location) and remember to do this safely with a rubber block, phonebook etc...
7. Pull up on lower part of manifold closest to the turbo.(it will not get all the way off the studs)
8. Pull toward the front of the vehicle. (I pried very lightly on the stock gasket and manifold with a screw driver on the driver side to make it clear the studs)
9.After you clear the studs pull up on the manifold and it should come off.
Now this sounds easier then it is. There may be some other things you may need to do. Remember anything you do to your vehicle is your business. Anything in here is just a guideline. Please work at your own risk and be safe.
